Different styles of bikini bottoms – find your perfect fit!
There are many different styles of bikini bottoms, and below you will find a list of the most often used designs, and the advantages of each one.
Generally the choice of bikini bottom depends upon your figure. Which parts you wish to accentuate, so they can be appreciated, and which parts you prefer to disguise or dissimulate. Your choice will also depend upon whether it will be worn specifically for sunbathing, sports, swimming or general all-round beachwear.
It is important that the bikini bottom is correctly fitted, so as not to cause unsightly bulging at the waist or legs. So depending upon your body shape, you will find that some styles suit you better than others. Do remember that the bikini bottom should be close fitting, but not tight, as the fabrics tend to expand when wet.
The Brazilian Bikini bottom is the most revealing and daring of the different design options. It is low-waisted at the front and higher at the back, and the most important difference between the more conservative American designs is the amount of flesh that is exposed at the rear. The back piece is much smaller, and hence covers far less than other designs, and some can be just a tiny strip, which runs down between the buttocks. The Brazilian cut is great for showing off curvaceous, well-formed and exercise-toned buttocks, and to get a better tanning area, but it should definitely be avoided if you do not have a really great-looking butt.
The tie-sided design comes low across the tummy and the top of the buttocks and is great for avoiding a tummy bulge. The tie sides make it easy to adjust so it can be a very comfortable design, which fits well, but do be careful to tie the ties securely! The low lines allow a good amount of exposure, so that your tan lines will be as small as possible.
The hipster design covers just a little more than the tie string but with the added security of complete side seams, so you may feel more confident with this style if you are going to be moving about, playing beach sports or swimming.
The banded hipster is a bit larger, covering a little more of the tummy and buttocks, and is another great style for avoiding a tummy roll. It is also an excellent design for showing off well-toned legs and buttocks, and for sports and swimming.
The high-waisted style is a great design to really show off some long legs and a smooth stomach. It is perhaps the most favoured design for active beachwear as when correctly fitted it offers a free range of movement, great comfort, and confidence of keeping covered all essential parts!
The full skirt is a perfect design for those who prefer to be a little more modest and like to keep the upper part of the legs covered. It comes high at the waist and covers to the top of the thigh. It is particularly useful for general vacation use, not only for on the beach as it can be worn, without the need of a wrap or cover-up, when going into a local shop or restaurant.
The flirty skirt comes a little lower at the waist than the full skirt, and its wrinkled, ruffled deign makes it excellent for diminishing any minor bulges in the middle region. It is feminine and pretty and again can be worn without a cover-up when entering establishments.
The boy short is high-waisted but with a lower leg cut, and is another sporty type of cut, offering good cover and excellent mobility, with no fear of an exaggerated movement leaving you in an embarrassing situation.
