Fall fashion trends 2016
As a long, hot summer draws to a close, here are the forecasts to help you get ahead on this year’s fall fashion trends. So what are we going to be seeing?
Gold metallic is set to be the stand out color for the season, along with other shiny, glitzy, silver, bronze and brass colored fabrics. What fun! Tops, skirts, pants -everything is gleaming and sparkling, and were also seeing lots of plain fabrics with delicate gold designs.
Dresses and blouses have lots of ruffles at the neck and hemline, in skirts and sleeves and the fall trend in sleeves this year is over long, over wide and highly exaggerated. Sexy, off the shoulder tops and dresses with flowing and billowy short or long sleeves are really big. 80’s style one shoulder tops and dresses with loads of ruffles, and one arm tops are also in.
Although flowers are not usually chosen for fall, this year sees lots of exquisite floral prints employed in a range of garments from sweatshirts to flowing long skirts and elegant dresses. Plain, one color long-sleeve dresses with turtlenecks are worn under fancy sleeveless our flouncy sleeved dresses made of lightweight fabrics, so you can show off your prettiest cocktail dresses at any time.
Velvet is the season’s top fabric and is seen in many Renaissance style designs with bell sleeves, corsets and capelets in bold, rich colors – stunning.
Talking of colors, tan is the color this fall, in all its varieties from soft camel to muted khaki. This classic color is classy and chique and everyone looks good in it, and pumpkin spice, a muted orange color which works well with different skin tones and has also been featured a lot this year. When it comes to color combinations, the rather strange sounding dusty pink with a muted yellow color, actually works really well, and has been employed in many fall collections.
Pantsuits have made a big come-back, thanks largely to Hillary Clinton. These slim fitting, clean cut, colorful and stylish outfits are a must in the power wardrobe of today’s business woman. Pinstripes are particularly popular and are good for lengthening and flattering the figure and for the younger generation, there are mini skirt suits. For relaxing after a hard day at the office oversized hoodies remain a comfortable favorite, and this year they are sporting large logos on the front.
Fur remains extremely strong again this fall in bold colors and wild prints. You need to be able to handle the attention in one of these stunning coats, or opt for a slightly less ostentatious faux fur stole worn across the body.
Shearling bomber jackets are back, but this year the classic aviator-style comes both cropped or in a cocoon shape. Plaid overcoats with big buttons and wide collars are big, and this year sees them in clean, muted and subtle colors especially greys and tans.Keeping coats in the shiny trend of this fall, patent leather is the stunning and practical choice for trench coats, and the summer season’s nautical trend continues with calf and ankle length navy overcoats.
Platform shoes are back!! as are chokers. Many dresses this season come with a matching choker which tends to be wide and covers the whole neck, or bring any outfit up the minute by tying a thin glittery scarf around your neck.
